Why We Chose Waldorf: An Honest Reflection
Where the Question Began
Like many parents, we began this journey with a simple question: what kind of school do we want for our child?
We were not looking for the school with the highest grades, or the most dazzling academic reputation. We were looking for a school that would keep our child's spark of curiosity alive, a school that would see our child as a whole human being, not an empty bucket to be filled.
Honest Worries
We will not lie: worries did come up when we first learned about Waldorf. Would our child fall behind the curriculum? Would not learning to read early put them at a disadvantage? Was this approach "rigorous enough"?
Those questions are natural. And it took us time, along with plenty of reading, conversations, and school visits, to begin answering them.
What We Found
What we found was this: children who grow up in a Waldorf environment do not just learn to read and count. They learn how to think. How to feel. How to act with heart.
They learn that creativity is not a rare talent. It is a human capacity that can be nurtured. That working with one's hands is noble. That nature is a teacher, not something to be conquered.
We did not choose Waldorf because it is perfect. We chose it because its values align with the values we want to pass on.
An Invitation to You
If you are on the same journey, searching, questioning, considering, we invite you to come and feel the atmosphere of Taman Meraki for yourself. No single approach fits every family. But perhaps Waldorf belongs to yours.
