Protecting the Wonder
of Childhood
Taman Meraki was born from a simple realization: that childhood is the most sacred foundation in human life. In Jakarta, where everything demands speed and instant achievement, we chose to pause. We chose not to rush.
We see children not as empty vessels to be filled with academic information as quickly as possible, but as seeds that already carry their own map of life. Our task is to be the fertile soil, the clear water, and the warm sun.
"At Meraki, we celebrate every small step, every simple discovery, and every honest laugh."
The Spaces We Nurture for Growth
We believe healthy growth is not shaped by targets and acceleration, but by rich and meaningful experiences. Through stories, nature, art, and daily rhythm, children build a foundation they will carry for life.
The Power of Story
Every day at Meraki begins and ends with a story. Through tales told without digital aids, children are invited to create pictures in their own minds. This is a remarkable mental exercise for brain development, and a gentle way to pass on human values and a connection with nature.
Touching the Earth
In a city full of concrete, we make sure little fingers still get to feel the dampness of soil. Gardening is not just about planting seeds, but about learning patience, understanding the cycle of life, and growing gratitude for the food nature provides. As they tend to plants, they learn to tend to the world.
Colors of the Soul
Wet-on-wet watercolor painting at Meraki is not about making a "nice" picture. It is about feeling the flow of color, understanding harmony, and expressing feelings they cannot yet put into words. It is a visual meditation for children.
The Power of Rhythm
Rhythm gives children a sense of security. Through meaningful, repeating daily patterns, children learn to recognize the world as a place they can trust. From the morning opening song, to playtime, to creative work, to the closing story of the day, rhythm helps children develop balance, focus, and a sense of calm within themselves.
OUR JOURNEY
From a Small Circle
Into a Home for Learning
Meraki began as a small learning community for Waldorf-inspired early childhood education. From the gathering of families who shared the same hope for a whole and gentle childhood, grew a warm, human, and meaningful learning space.
Over time, this community grew into a home for learning that continues to carry the same spirit: honoring each child's own rhythm of growth and offering a learning experience close to real life.
